Why Tesla Powerwall?

The Tesla Powerwall is considered to be the leading solar power storage solution for residential customers. Here are the biggest reasons why it's a worthwhile investment:

Solar self-consumption

Without solar battery storage, any energy that your solar power system generates will be used to power any appliances that happen to be running. Adding the Tesla Powerwall battery to the mix lets you do the same, but with the key difference that any excess power produced by your solar panels will be redirected to charge the Powerwall.

The Powerwall also uses a technique called “time of use load shifting” where it draws power from the electricity grid during off-peak hours to save money. This can potentially reduce the cost of your electricity bill by up to thousands of dollars each year.

Backup electricity

With the Tesla Powerwall battery technology, you’ll always have access to electricity even when the grid goes down. The Powerwall offers seamless power transition and will continuously deliver electricity to your most essential appliances at home such as your refrigerator. And if you work from home, your productivity will no longer be at risk of being affected as you’ll essentially be immune from blackouts.

Off-the-grid living

Living off the grid means that you no longer depend on utility companies for power generation, but instead generate and store your own electricity using renewable resources. A single Powerwall battery unit has a generous 13.5 kWh of energy storage, but this much capacity only allows you to store enough energy to power your home overnight.

However, the Tesla Powerwall energy storage can be stacked multiple times to power a modern off-grid home. You can stack up to 10 units to increase your energy capacity by up to 135 kWh. This gives you a lot of space to store any excess energy generated by your solar panels and makes off-the-grid living more viable than ever. You may need to upgrade your solar panel system if you want to stack multiple Powerwall units. Meanwhile, the increased off-grid energy ratings of the Powerwall+ allows it to support off-grid living, but in a limited capacity.

10-year warranty

The Tesla Powerwall has a 10-year warranty with 70% retained capacity and unlimited cycles. This is for solar self-consumption and back-up use only. However, for other applications such as charging using solar plus off-peak energy, the number of cycles is not unlimited and instead is limited to 37.80 MWh of aggregate throughput. If your Powerwall unit fails within the warranty period, Tesla will either repair or replace your Powerwall, or refund your money.

Versatile

The Powerwall is so versatile that it's suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation and can either be floor or wall mounted. This gives you more freedom on where you can install it. The Powerwall can also be integrated with any existing or new solar system.
