Solar Batteries Queensland

Solar Batteries Queensland

Reduce your reliance on the traditional grid, become energy independent, and save more money.

Solar panels provide homeowners and businesses in Queensland with access to clean and sustainable energy that can either be consumed immediately or stored for later consumption. To accomplish the latter, you need to pair your solar panels with some good solar batteries to create a more robust system.

Some of the biggest benefits of installing a solar battery are:

  • Saves captured energy from your solar panels for use whenever it is required
  • Optimises the performance of your solar PV system
  • Enhances the ecological sustainability of your home or business
  • Provides a new source of income by selling excess energy to electricity suppliers
  • Improves your credibility with your eco-conscious clients

Solar Battery Rebates for Homes

The Queensland state government does not currently offer financial incentives or rebates for either home battery storage systems or solar panels. The only solar incentive available is the Federal Government's Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs).

The scheme works by providing small-scale technology certificates (STCs) to eligible households that installed solar panels in their residences.

These STCs can then be exchanged for Australian dollars, which will be taken off the price of your system. Depending on the system size you've selected, you're generally eligible for a certain number of certifications. In Queensland, a solar system can earn up to 12 certificates per kWH on average, with the total number of certificates per KW rising slightly for every additional KW the system produces.

Fortunately, due to Brisbane's sunny climate, residents are eligible for STCs of higher value. A 5kW system can save households up to $3,500, but you must have your system installed by a Clean Energy Council accredited installer to qualify for the refund.

Solar Battery Rebates for Small Businesses

The Queensland state government does not currently offer specific financial incentives or rebates for businesses in Queensland.

However, businesses in Queensland can take advantage of the national Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRE). Under this scheme, when a solar PV system is installed, Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are generated, which can be sold to recoup a portion of the installation costs.

Additionally, businesses can benefit from feed-in tariffs offered by electricity retailers for any excess power they generate and feed back into the grid. The rates for these tariffs can vary between different providers.

Join a VPP to Harness the Full Potential of Your Solar Power System

Solar generation allows us to lower our monthly utility costs, but participating in a VPP lets you ramp up your energy savings even further. The system enables consumers in Queensland to generate their own electricity, store it in solar batteries, and then sell it to energy providers during times when demand on the main grid is high.

What Is a VPP?

VPP, or a virtual power plant, enables consumers to reduce their bills by avoiding peak demand tariffs, as well as generating extra revenue by selling their electricity.

It is a cloud-based network of residential solar power systems that are operated by a centralised smart control mechanism. One of the program's main objectives is to help stabilise the grid during times of need. Eligibility to participate in a VPP depends on the type of solar battery that a consumer has.

Discovery Energy VPP

Discovery Energy Virtual Power Plant (VPP) enables solar consumers in QLD to make the most out of their solar power systems. It uses 3 key pieces of proprietary software to help solar users maximise results.

The Benefits of Joining the Discovery Energy VPP
