Solar Batteries Western Australia

Solar Batteries Western Australia

Save money, reduce your carbon emissions, and achieve energy independence.

Solar panels make it possible for homeowners and commercial clients in Western Australia to access clean, green and sustainable energy. The power generated by your solar panels can be used immediately, sent back into the grid, or stored for later use. To accomplish the latter, solar batteries are required.

With a solar battery, you can get the most out of your solar panels and use the captured solar power whenever you need it. It offers a range of advantages including:

  • Stores solar energy and use it when you need it most
  • Maximises the efficiency of your solar panels
  • Improves your environmental sustainability
  • Opens up a new revenue stream by selling extra energy back to the grid
  • Shows your commitment to eco-friendly business practices (for businesses)

Solar Battery Incentives For Homes

The Commonwealth Government offers a financial incentive for the installation of renewable energy systems through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Solar installers typically arrange the involvement of this program, so the consumer gets a discount on the purchase price up front.

The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme offers incentives to eligible small-scale renewable energy systems in the form of small-scale technology certificates, which can be sold to recover some of the costs incurred during the purchase and installation of the system.

Small-scale renewable systems which may be eligible for certificates include:

  • solar photovoltaic (PV) panels
  • wind turbines
  • hydro systems
  • solar water heaters, and
  • air source heat pumps

Installing a renewable energy system such as solar panels (PV) offers three types of benefits to household customers:

  • a one-time discount on the cost of your renewable energy system's purchase
  • savings through reduced energy purchases from your supplier
  • payments for extra electricity that your solar energy system puts into the electricity grid, often known as the energy buyback plan.

Solar Battery Incentives for Small Businesses

Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, eligible businesses are entitled to small-scale technology certificates, which can be sold to retrieve a portion of the cost of purchasing and installing the system. Businesses who install the following are also eligible for a financial incentive:

  • Small-scale renewable energy systems like
  • solar panel systems
  • small-scale wind systems
  • small-scale hydro systems
  • solar water heaters
  • air source heat pumps

This is accomplished by providing certificates for small-scale technologies which
Renewable Energy Target liable entities have a legal obligation to buy and surrender to the Clean Energy Regulator on a quarterly basis.

To be
eligible for small-scale technology certificates, small generation units must:

  • Have certificates issued within a year of installation, and have the panels and inverter listed on the Clean Energy Council list of Approved Components.
  • Complies with the Australian and New Zealand standards
  • Use a Clean Energy Council-accredited designer and installer and adhere to its installation and design standards.
  • Complies with all local, state, territory and federal regulations, including electrical safety
  • Classified as small-scale that has
  • a solar panel system with a maximum capacity of 100 kW and a maximum yearly electricity output of 250 MWh
  • wind system with a maximum capacity of 10 kW and a maximum yearly electricity output of 25 MWh, or
  • hydro system with a maximum capacity of 6.4 kW and a maximum yearly electricity output of 25 MWh.

Join a VPP to Harness the Full Potential of Your Solar Power System

Solar generation allows you to save on your monthly power bill, but participating in a VPP lets you take your savings up a notch. The system enables consumers in Western Australia to generate their own electricity, store it in solar batteries, and then sell it to energy providers during times when demand on the main grid is high.

What Is a VPP?

VPP, or a virtual power plant, enables consumers to reduce their bills by avoiding peak demand tariffs, as well as generating extra revenue by selling their electricity.

It is a cloud-based network of residential solar power systems that are operated by a centralised smart control mechanism. One of the program's main objectives is to help stabilise the grid during times of need. Eligibility to participate in a VPP depends on the type of solar battery that you have.

Discovery Energy VPP

Discovery Energy Virtual Power Plant (VPP) enables solar consumers to make the most out of their solar power systems. It uses proprietary software to help solar users maximise results.

The Benefits of Joining the Discovery Energy VPP

  • Premium Solar Feed-ins

Solar feed-in rate with profit sharing on Discovery Energy-managed transactions using your stored solar energy.

  • Free Battery Recharges
